Stamford Honored with Sustainable CT Certification

Post Date:02/19/2025 2:12 PM

The City of Stamford has been recognized for achieving “Sustainable CT Certification”. Stamford met high standards in many sustainability accomplishments to qualify for the prestigious Bronze-level certification. In its application for Sustainable CT certification, Stamford demonstrated significant achievements in twelve sustainable impact areas ranging from clean transportation to inclusive community building, thriving local economies, vibrant arts and culture and diverse housing.

Sustainable CT is a statewide initiative that inspires and supports communities in becoming more efficient, resilient, and inclusive. The program includes actions that help towns and cities build community connection, social equity, and long-term resilience. It consists of an action roadmap and support tools that are especially relevant as towns seek practices and resources to respond to the ongoing challenges of climate change and economic uncertainty and promote racial justice.

Stamford completed actions including supporting small businesses with a Shop Local Campaign and Small Business Resource Event, sustaining Arts and Culture in the city with its Arts and Culture Guide, ensuring equitable food access by supporting our city farmers markets, and creating the Stamford Parks Community Partnership to enhance all of Stamford's parks.

Sustainable CT is independently funded, with multi-year support from the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, Hampshire Foundation, Common Sense Fund, Connecticut Green Bank, and the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut
